Join artist Vic Lee as he talks about his career and his Culture Croydon commission to celebrate 750 years of Croydon’s Surrey Street Market.

Vic Lee is an artist and speaker whose work is rooted in storytelling. Working across murals, painting, typography, books, public art and ceramics, he uses storytelling as a way to explore human behaviour, curiosity and the stories hidden within everyday life.

This summer Vic was commissioned by Croydon Council’s culture team to create a new artwork celebrating 750 years of Surrey Street Market. The 18m mural shares some of the market’s unheard ‘stall tales’, facts and memories from Medieval fairs and Regency era breweries through to more contemporary stories such as a visit from the then Prince of Wales, now King Charles, in 1994; everyone’s favourite second-hand vinyl store, Beanos; through to the birthplace of Dubstep, Big Apple Records.

Come to hear Vic talk about his career and the creation of this fabulous new artwork.
