Surrey Street Mural by Vic Lee

A new mural by Vic Lee celebrates 750 years of Surrey Street Market in Croydon.

Culture Croydon has commissioned South London artist, Vic Lee, to create a new mural that celebrates the 750th anniversary of Croydon’s Street Market, A 1276 Royal Charter granted Croydon a weekly market which ran in the triangle around what we now know as Surrey Street, it is one of the oldest continuous markets which, over the years, has had many different names including: the Shambles, the Flesh Market, the Butcherie and Butcher Row.

The 18-metre artwork brings together surprising stories, facts and memories from the market’s remarkable history.
