QUEER JOY: IN CONVERSATION

Join Bold Mellon Collective and Queer Croydon at Stanley Arts Gallery Space for a panel discussion exploring Queer Joy and  Bold Mellon’s new multimedia documentary project Queer Joy: In Conversation.

Featuring drag icons and hosts of ‘Their Majesties’: Asifa Lahore – Britain’s first out Muslim drag queen – and Claudia Coelho (aka Shepherd’s Bush), legendary queer cabaret performance artist Charlie Wood and cultural-taboo-eliminating powerhouse Toni Murphy whose work centres the BIPOC experience. The discussion will be monitored by Emilia Nurmukamet and Dear Annie.

Come along, get involved and get immersed in the Queer Joy exhibition featuring exciting works by 24 of the freshest emerging queer artists!

Asifa Lahore is an artist known as Britain’s First Out Muslim Drag Queen and LGBT+ activist, pushing the boundaries of what it means to be LGBT, South Asian and Muslim.

Charlie Wood Charlie Wood is an artist, writer, designer and performer. A regular on the London Cabaret and alternative arts scene and the author and producer of a number of solo shows about love and Hell and queerness and the Tories.

Claudia Coelho is a professional makeup artist with drag alter-ego Shepherd’s Bush. Being a queer transgender woman Claudia is acutely aware of the lack of LGBT+ safe spaces in Croydon – she is one of the forces behind Their Majesties, Queer Croydon and the Queer Arts Network.

Toni Murphy is a London based, multi-disciplinary creative and storyteller. Her work centres the experiences of BIPOC with a focus on alternative lifestyles and dispelling cultural taboos.
