Spectacular circus on the streets of Croydon!
This summer, for one dazzling weekend, Croydon High Street becomes a spectacular open-air circus!
For Miss La La is a free, two-day celebration of contemporary circus, honouring the extraordinary 19th-century aerialist Anna Albertine Olga Brown (1858-1945) AKA MIss La La. Of Afro-German heritage, Miss La La was famous for her feats of strength. She is immortalised in a painting by Degas which is currently part of The National Gallery: Art On Your Doorstep programme.
Experience breathtaking aerial performances, high-energy acrobatics, rollerskating and juggling and tightwire, along with DJs and hands-on workshops where you can try out circus skills!
Enjoy bold exciting new work from emerging and established women circus performers. The weekend is curated by Upswing, one of the UK’s leading circus companies led by their Artistic Director, Vicki Dela Amedume MBE.
