Spectacular circus on the streets of Croydon!
This summer, Katharine Street is transformed into a vibrant open‑air circus arena as Upswing brings a spectacular two‑day celebration to Croydon. Inspired by the trailblazing 19th‑century aerialist Miss La La, the event fills the town with bold performances, hands‑on workshops and joyful creativity for all ages.
Across the weekend, world‑class contemporary circus artists will take to the air with breathtaking displays, walkabout acts inspired by vintage circus glamour, and opportunities for everyone to “give it a go,” from hula‑hooping to beginner acrobatics. Creative craft sessions will invite the community to help decorate the street, turning it into a shared space of imagination and play.
Presented by Upswing – the UK’s pioneering Black‑led contemporary circus company – this free celebration honours Miss La La’s legacy while spotlighting the future of circus.
