East Croydon Station

Get to East Croydon in 15 minutes with frequent Southern and Thameslink trains from London Bridge and London Victoria. Paintings at the Whitgift Centre, Park Hill Park and The Queen’s Gardens are a 10-minute walk from East Croydon Station. View Gossaert’s The Adoration of the Kings at Croydon Minster, a 15-minute walk from East Croydon Station.

Turner by Thameslink and Southern Rail

The Turner paintings can be viewed at Rotary Field, a 6-minute walk from Purley Station and at Coulsdon College, just a 20-minute walk from Coulsdon South Station.

De Hooch by Tram

Catch a New Addington Tram to the end of the line, then a 5-minute walk to New Addington Library to view Pieter de Hooch’s The Courtyard of a House in Delft.

Seurat by Southern Rail

Take a Southern Rail or Thameslink train to see Bathers at Asnières at Trumble Gardens, just a 10-minute walk from Thornton Heath Station.

From Surrey

Travel to East Croydon from Surrey is easy, with several quick rail options:

Direct via Redhill

Thameslink trains run directly from Redhill to East Croydon, typically taking 12–18 minutes.

Via Clapham Junction

Take a South Western Railway service to Clapham Junction. At Clapham Junction, change to a Southern train and travel one stop to East Croydon. Total journey time varies depending on your starting point but averages 25–45 minutes from many Surrey towns.

From Sussex

Sussex is well connected to East Croydon via Southern and Thameslink services:

From Horsham, Three Bridges & Brighton

  • Southern and Thameslink trains serve Purley and East Croydon directly.
  • Typical journey times:
    • Horsham → East Croydon: approx. 35–45 minutes
    • Three Bridges → East Croydon: approx. 20–25 minutes
    • Brighton → East Croydon: approx. 35–45 minutes

From East Grinstead

Direct trains operate from East Grinstead to East Croydon, taking around 35 minutes.

From Hertfordshire

Thameslink trains run from St Albans southbound through central London and on to East Croydon. Approximate journey time: 60–75 minutes, depending on service and time of day.

From Cambridgeshire

Thameslink offers direct services from Cambridge into London and down to East Croydon. Full journey time is usually 1 hour 20 minutes – 1 hour 40 minutes.

From King’s Cross (via St Pancras International)

If you’re arriving at King’s Cross, East Croydon is easily reached in around 30 minutes:

  1. Exit King’s Cross and walk (5 minutes) to St Pancras International.
  2. From St Pancras, board a Thameslink train heading southbound.
  3. Stay on the train until it reaches East Croydon (average travel time 25–30 minutes once onboard).
