Student choirs from all over the UK will be gathering to perform at the nail biting University Gospel Choir of the Year competition, each hoping to secure the top spot to return victoriously to their alma mater with the coveted title in tow.

A total of eight university gospel choirs have secured a place in this year’s finals of the 12th Annual UGCY – University Gospel Choir of the Year which will take place on Saturday 16th of March 2024 at Oasis House, Croydon. The choir line up includes last year’s winners Kent University Gospel Choir with UCL VOCE, BIMM Birmingham, King’s College London, Durham University, Keele University, University of Birmingham and Warwick University each preparing to win first place.

The competitive element makes the event gripping from start to finish until the winners are finally announced after careful deliberations. The audience come geared to back their favourite acts, living every moment with the choirs, singing along and showing their appreciation for winning harmonies that touch the soul by leaping up to give a standing ovation. Why not come along with friends to experience this unique, living, breathing Gospel choir community at its finest!

University Gospel Choir of the Year, founded in 2011 by Lorraine Wright MBE, provides an opportunity for uni gospel choirs to perform in front of top gospel music judges (soon to be announced) before an engaged live audience of choir music lovers.

As always the UGCY will be full of dancing, laughter and roaring cheers (and a few tears!) with the soon to be announced Gospel Music experts judging the competition and ultimately deciding which choir will be crowned the 2024 University Gospel Choir of the Year.

UGCY 2023 is organised in partnership with AStepFWD, a multi-media platform organisation in its tenth year that curates the monthly UK Christian Charts (the only national independent music charting system in the UK) along with initiatives such as the iMpact conference for creatives, Artist Relief Fund, Poets In Autumn World Tour and the annual StepFWD Awards along with many other trailblazing initiatives.
