Come and make a ‘vinok’ harvest crown with Svitlana and Anhelina Goncharuk!
As part of Croydon Harvest featuring The Walnut Fair, create your own vinok and be amongst the best dressed at this autumnal event!
In this one hour workshop, Svitlana and Anhelina will teach you how to make crowns from wheat, flowers, roses, and colorful ribbons.
Like most Ukrainian folk dress, the Vinok has significant symbolic value – representing love and beauty – and are often used in wedding ceremonies and folk festivals.
Svitlana is a Ukrainian artist dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich heritage of Ukrainian culture. She creates traditional didukhs, symbolic protective brooches, beaded handbags, and runs masterclasses on weaving wreaths of wheat, decorative flowers, roses, and colorful ribbons.
Her mission is to preserve the traditions of her ancestors and embody them in modern life.
