Join Small World Cinema and the David Lean Cinema for a weekend of playful films, hands-on creativity and cinematic adventures as part of Croydon Harvest. From a magical first cinema experience for under-5s to a funny and irreverent film about a pet pig, there’s something for different ages and interests. Children can also get creative, making miniature animal habitats and their own imaginary farmyard animals.
Small World Cinema brings films to life with creative activities that encourage children to explore, make and imagine.
The programme includes:
Cinemini (under 5s)

10.30am – 12pm
Baithwaite Hall
Free drop-in session
Introduce your little ones to the magic of cinema with Cinemini, a playful first cinema experience combining short films, sensory play and creative exploration.
For Croydon Harvest, discover a charming collection of short films inspired by the natural world. Sounds become drawings, travellers become birds, trees change shape and a dog’s tail takes on a life of its own!
After the films, children can explore a cinematic playground of light, colour, shadow, movement and play, following their curiosity and discovering the magic of cinema together.
Oink + Farm-Making Workshop (6+)

Nine-year-old Babs has always wanted a pet, so she’s thrilled when her grandfather gives her a tiny piglet for her ninth birthday. She names him Oink and soon the little pig wins over the whole family. But Grandpa is hiding a secret… and it involves sausages!
The film is in Dutch with English subtitles. It’s not difficult to follow, even if you miss a word here and there.
After the film, join us for a relaxed Eco-Crafternoon celebrating the Harvest Festival. Using recycled materials, children can create real or imagined farmyard animals. Each creation will be filmed in time-lapse as it joins a growing imaginary farmyard.
