Join us for Croydon Gladi Gladi – a joyful weekend of music, celebrating a Croydon legend – Samuel Coleridge-Taylor.

Gladi Gladi – meaning ‘happy celebration’ – brings together a line-up of exceptional musicians to pay tribute to the trailblazing Croydon composer and conductor on the weekend marking 150 years since his birth.

At the Victorian bandstand, experience world class performances of Coleridge-Taylor’s work from the London Mozart Players and Pegasus Opera Company, as well as new music inspired by his work and life from Senegalese drummer Cheikh Diop and award-winning bassist and composer, Shri.

There’s even more entertainment throughout the weekend with the soulful sounds of Gospel Rising, musical comedy from Bowjangles and rag rhythms of the Cable Street Rag Band.

The weekend opens with Baby Gospel and throughout the weekend families can get hands-on with an upcycled musical playground, marvel at the UK’s number one speed painter, learn how to be a DJ and look out for a larger-than-life dancing puppet.

Make sure you grab a tasty bite at the Surrey Street Market too!
