Applications now open for Autumn Term 2023

Creating Routes is a free, practical, training programme for Global Majority theatre makers and creatives who want to use their artistic skills in community settings. This programme is a collaboration between Talawa Theatre Company, Emergency Exit Arts (EEA) and Goldsmiths University of London.

As a collective we have come together to help to diversify the participatory arts sector with artists from different cultural backgrounds. Our aim is to provide an alternative route into entering the sector, one that strikes a balance between the practical and the theoretical. Creating Routes trainees get the opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills and experience needed to gain employment in Participatory Arts sector.

Apply by Monday 16 October 2023

Creating Routes is open to Global Majority theatre-makers and creatives aged 18+, with or without participatory arts experience. If you are interested in working with groups in schools, community organisations, health settings or the criminal justice system then Creating Routes is for you.

Creating Routes trainees get the opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills and experience needed to gain employment in the Participatory Arts sector.

Creating Routes alumni have gone onto work with: Talawa, EEA, London Bubble Theatre Company, Young Vic, Birmingham REP, Imperial War Museum, Theatre Royal Stratford East, and Battersea Arts Centre.

“I came to Creating Routes at a time of self-doubt in my facilitating practice. Being part of Creating Routes helped me regain my confidence. This course has given me what I needed and so much more.”
